Amazing teacher. I felt so comfortable with his teaching style and his intelligence. He works harder than any teacher I've every had at state. His critiques and guidelines were so precise and so clear, I knew exactly what to edit and fix to make my work better. His goal was to make us better writers, and it was his selfless attitude and caring that made that possible. Thanks Dave.

This was the best writing class I ever had at SFSU. He won't be back next year, and too bad for Maxine. He will be sorely missed by Creative Writing students. His style is brash and loud, but never insulting and intimidating. I believe Porter is one of the most talented teachers I've ever had, and I hope he knows how inspired his students were by him.
