His lecture were very stimulating, even for an econ class. His homework consisted of internet tests which prepared me for the midterm and final.

In all the classes that i have taken at sfsu, Potepan has got to be one of my favorites. he re-sparked my interest in economics and made learning fun. his exam outlines are very clear and although you should do all the readings thoroughly, you should be able to get by with his lecture. im now trying to enroll into his 535 class, hopefully itll be as enjoyable as 101.

I am pretty neutral about this teacher. He isn't great (not much energy brought to class), but he doesn't have many drawbacks either. just a yoman teacher who will teach the class and give you basic exams, mostly from the book, a little from lecture. His style is a bit on the boring side, but otherwise a fair teacher.

I took him for MWF 9-10am but ending up withdrawing because I just couldn't get to class that early. I took him again two semesters later during a night class. The night class was much better than the morning class. I think the exams were different the second time around but that didn't mean they were easier. The night class exam consisted of 25 MC questions-2pts each and then word problems for 25 points total. He almost always had extra credit questions for 10 pts. You have to go to class or you won't know how to work the word problems. I had an easier time on the word problems than the MC. The MC seemed tricky and I didn't do well on them even though I read. He's nice and approachable. Don't look forward to getting out early if you take him at night.

Professor Potepan is not only great professor but an awesome person as well! He really has a grasp on the information in Uraban Economics, and because of that, he really made the class fun and interesting. The class itself is great, if you ever wanted to know why American cities are the way they are today, than take this course with Dr. Potepan. You really do not need to have too much of an Economic background to understand the material taught in this class. His tests are usually deviations from his studyguide, and is always from the information in the readings and lectures (no surprises). Dr. Potepan is also a very understanding and caring person. He is always willing to answer any questions about readings, homework, or projects, and is always seems to be available during his office hours. Overall, I loved this class and would encourage all Econ. majors (and non-econ majors) to take this class with Dr. Potepan!

Professor Potepan is a great guy! How often does a Department Chair teach the 100 level classes? He has a fun personality, and when you take him over the summer, he really tries to make the class fun and is very open to new ideas. He is also very approachable and extremely helpful during his office hours. Overall, he is a great guy, and anyone who is taking any class in Economics should try to take it with this guy!

Prof. Potepan is a good instructor. However, his lectures are somewhat dry and sometimes boring. He has a good grasp on the material, but he doesn't make it interesting enough...but that may in part be the subject's fault. Anyhow, overall he's good. He explains the material well, but often runs out of time which leaves material uncovered and eliminated. The quizes and exams are pretty fair. No projects or homework is assigned.

He is a very good instructor, and very nice person. He is very understanding...unlike most econ professors. I would recommeded his class to everyone...although it can be a little boring on somedays...just dont go to class everyday but you will do good in the course. His grading is fair and he offers a very NICE curve. and Latoya likes him too he gave her a B though....but he's be cool

Dr. Potepan was an excellent instructor. He had an excellent grasp of the material, was a very good lecturer, was organized, and always welcomed questions. His exams were fair, and he was a fair grader on computational essay (exam) questions. If I could not come to his office hours, he would answer my quetions by e-mail, or by phone. Very nice. I recommend him to all.

Mr. Potepan I have no doubt is a nice person but as a teacher was severely lacking. His lectures were very dry and it had nothing to do with the material as another reviewer stated it was Potepans approach to teaching. He is the head of the economics dept. so he usually was to busy to help when needed outside of class. His midterms came from mars I think and often times a subject he barely touched on would be on tests in full force. He often skimmed over the material and seemed not to care whether students understood the material but just kept plodding along with his timetable, while the scores on tests in his class kept dropping and dropping. Unless you are an economics major do not take Mr. Potepan.

absolutely a joke of a teacher. why should we be expected to be prepared for careers in bus/econ when he cant even be prepaered for class! The review sheet for final had review topics for 2 chapters and at the bottom said "I wasnt able to complete this outline for class today..." Can you believe it???? This is how he does everything. Tests (of mostly multiple choice) take over a week to grade! His class isnt hard, but difficult to maintain intrest in.

Mr. Potepan is probably a good economist, but as a teacher he is severely lacking. His lectures ramble on monotonously, and he often times seems unsure of his illustrations of economic theory. His tests are not difficult, but his questions do seem to come from left field. His class is not impossible, just frustruating. A friend of mine reccomended Sisk, but I didint listen...

As always, this teacher's weakness was his boring lecture. Well, the class's subject is like that, so we shouldn't blame the teacher. He really did what he could do in his class by assignning good homeworks and provided good handouts. Also,he wasn't the teacher who "dry talked" quickly in front of 200 people. He used projector to show his notes and made students easily to copy. Also, what i like from him was his grading policy!!! In his tests, even if u got a wrong answer, he still gives u points!!! So if u actually come to class and take the test, and u don't leave any questions in blank, then i'm sure u can get at least 50%!!!! And his tests were kinda easy, but not the final..The final was quite hard and i think i failed the final and dropped from A- to a B....Take his class if u want to pass ECON!!! Also, now i'm in Econ 101, and my teacher's name is Matt Stanley, he is a good teacher too!!! But he is hella new to this school and he looks very young.(He just looks like a student)
