When I took this class she was going through a tough time, but that didn't take away from her ability to teach well and inspire me as a writer. She likes portfolio writing and wants you to improve, so you have the opportunity to resubmit your work... she incourages it. She provides forums for you to learn, blackboard Friday's, I was able to hear about cultures and communicate with people who normally would never speak up during class. It was SO enlightening! But a couple ANNONOMOUS students complained so it got pulled, hopefully it's back! What I have learned is that each teacher expects different things from writing, but I have great faith that I can fit into any of their boxes thanks to the skills Professor Randolph gave me!

(P)She's a really great teacher who really cares a lot about her students. (I)She goes the extra mile and works extra hard and she demands the same from her students. (E)Other teachers would limit students to what they can and cannot do, whereas on the other hand with portfolio assessments, Professor Randolph allows students the opportunity, space, and time to explore and expand their mindset. (S)Prior english teachers never really gave me the confidence to want to write, but professor Randolph has inspired me more to want to be a better writer. Ive not only learned new skills in this class, such as PIES and ELPM, but now regularly use those skills not just for writing but in daily life as well!

Prof. Randolph, or Karen as she told us to call her, is a good teacher. During her discussions, you can get a lot of ideas for your paper. She also gives a lot of feedback on your papers, even going one on one with you on how to make it better. She always responds when you email her or talk to her after class. She maybe a little kooky, but that is what makes her interesting. Don't mind the fact that she is always late for class.

Karen is the best professor I have ever had. She is always available, and she cares about each one of her students. She really wants you to do well. She picks interesting topics, and she is always very current with her knowledge and ideas and themes. I am going to take as many classes with her as I can. I cant stress enough how wonderful she is. A+ prof. all the way! AMAZING!

Some classes in the business degree appear to be a waste of time. I felt this would be one of them. However Ms. Randolph made the subject quite interesting. The class was somewhat difficult and a lot of work for a summer session, but it was rewarding. Ms. Randolph is a very attentive instructor, always attemptin to engage the students. She responds to e-mails instantly, which is quite remarkable for an SFSU instructor. I must say the one negative comment I have was her attempt to remember names, especially of foreign students. While it was endearing at first to see her try to associate names, I felt soem of the foreign students were a bit put off at her attempts to pronounce their names, invariably incorrectly.

If you are planning to enroll in BUS 360, I rather take Karen Randolph than any other instructor because her teaching style is very straight-forward and interesting. For a hard class like BUS 360, Karen Randolph is not around to torture you, she is around to help people in any way possible. She is not around to flunk people, she is around to understand your thoughts and feeling about management. She does love to hear the words "bullshit" because there is so much bullshit out there that she would like to challenge any problems that seem ridiculous.
