It's amazing the department was able to snag this guy.
Professor Rech exemplifies what can go right in education if you have all the proper elements in place:
1. A good and thorough understanding of the subject matter. 2. Clarity of thought and expression. 3. Ability to clarify ambiguous material. 4. A willingness to abnegate one's personal time and ambitions for the benefit of others -(the students). 5. Conscientiousness with regard to educational quality. 6. Fairness 7. Enthusiasm 8. Sense of humor and the ability not to take oneself too seriously. 9. Basic human kindness
Well, it's totally irrelevant to go into details about his class since he's no longer teaching by the time you read this, but I am posting this review because he deserves yet another A.

BA 412 is known as one of the more difficult bus core classes to take, also one of most useless and uninteresting. Rech does a good job or making this class not only easy but fun and interesting too. As long as you go to class, take good notes and participate you'll end up with at least a B. Rech presented material that might even be useful in the future- which I can't say for even half of the teachers I've had.

The best professor I have ever taken. He cares about the students a lot. He doesn't get tired to go over and over if you don't understand something. His exams are straight forward. He asks you what he teaches. I wish he was teaching some other classes as well. Do not miss him!!!

I always heard that 412 is a tough class. Luckily, because of teacherreview.com, I decided to take Rech who is knowledgable and a professor who can teach! He is a very friendly person and often enlightens the class by telling us interesting, yet funny, stories that relates to his topic lectures. The textbook is not useful (as Rech does not use this book himself), so I suggest scan or copy the glossary (cause terms will be in the final) and return the book (you don't need the CD-packet inside). Even though business analysis statistics is very dry and boring, Rech does a good job explaining the concepts. He carefully go over homework hand outs and encourages class participations. Technically, you are require to do some excel problems at your own will, but this is not neccessary for the exams (40% midterm, 60% final).
What I didn't like about this class is that he likes teaching early in the morning (around 8am). So that sucks if you sleep late like I do. Because quite often, I dosed off during class. As mentioned before, only 2 comprehensive exams, open book (don't really need it)and open notes. But these mediocre exams covers so little compare to sooooo much material covered in class. So I was pissed for studing so hard, but yet, receive a B- for the semester. Not easy to get an "A" for his class, but not that hard to pass his class.

I completed undergraduate degree in business at SFSU and now I am a grad. student. All I can is Prof. Rech is the best teacher for this class. He makes a very difficult subject into a simple and understandable easy to learn leacture. He gives bonus points for class contribution and he has a good sense of humor. He tries extra to make sure everyone understands him. He has two exams open book, first is worth 40% and final 60%. If you have to take this class, you must take it with him.

If you have to take ANY class that he teaches, take him. he is an outstanding professor. He takes the time to impart the information in a way you can digest rather than just throwing it at you. I am confident that after taking his class I will have no problem succeeding in future operations classes I may take.

Dr. Rech is by far the best teacher at San Francisco State University. Of all the hard classes i've taken, BA 412 ended up being the most fun I've ever had in taking a course. If I could take all my classes at state with Rech I would. He trully does care about your sucess and wants to make sure you understand the concept and not memorize it. In my book Rech gets 5 bonus points. !! Class of 2000

Dr. Rech is one of the best professors I have had. His teaching style is straight forward, and he keeps you interested. He waits for the slower students while going fast enough to keep the faster students going. I recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Rech is one of my favorite professors at SFSU because he makes BA 412 a class for students to enjoy. BA 412 is a difficult class, but Dr. Rech works with his students and he never lets students down. When I had Dr. Rech, he always praised me and he never made me feel like a quitter because he has always made a big influence in my life to do my best to succeed. If you take BA 412, I strongly recommend Dr. Rech because other professors are harder than him, and their teaching philosophies are unfriendly.

Dr. Rech is the best professor I have ever had in this university. He makes his classes full of fun. He also brings those formulas and numbers more meaningful. I worried about his accent in his first class. But I totally forgot his accent since he always writes important things on the blackboard. His exams are not difficult. He answers every question very patiently either in his classes or in his office hours. He is also nice to everybody. People are relaxed in his classes. Take his classes and experience his wonderful teaching.

Professor Rech is an excellent teacher. No wonder his classes are always full. He cares about his students a great deal. He makes a very difficult course an easy and fun one. Most people are afraid of taking BA412, well if you're in Prof. Rech's class, you will have no fear. You will learn so much. His tests are all based on the homework he assigns in class. As long as you do the homework, you should be able to get an A or a B with no problem. His teaching techniques are fun and enjoyable. He is truly tone of the best professors at SFSU. Thanks Dr. Rech. Youare truly a wonderful professor. I learned so much from you.

Rech is a conceptual instructor. He wants the students to learn the concepts, not just memorize formulas. Student participation is encouraged by giving a maximum of 5 bonus points for that purpose. Assigned homework must be completed to do well on the exams. There are no tricks in the exams, straight forward if the concepts are understood. Rech uses real-life examples in his lectures. Don't even bother buying the book. Just attend class and take good notes. He even said it himself. The guy isn't easy but he truely cares about the students.
