Prof. Rehman is a nice guy. He is approachable, answers questions from his students and answers emails in a reasonable amount of time, but he doesn't add any real value to the course. To his credit, every time I emailed him a question on a home work assignment, or even on problems that were not part of our assigned homework, he would email me back a responce in a reasonable amount of time. While he is friendly and very knowledgabe on the topic of finance, he talks way to fast with a thick accent, and too quietly, making him very difficult to understand. From talking to other students in this class, that opinion is pretty universal. [Now I can better appreciate what foreign students must feel like when they are taking classes taught in English!] His lectures are straight out of the book though, and his minimal discussions of the topics are difficult to follow. This is one of those classes where end result is that there really is no need for him to be there or for students to show up to class. I could have easily just read the book and showed up for the two exams. I enjoyed the topic and the information I learned from the class, but I had to give him less than a satisfactory grade because he didn't add a lot of value to my learning of the material. He also insists on emailing out the Power Point slides every week instead of putting them up on Blackboard. Every week, maybe a third of the students didn't get that weeks slides for one reason or another.

I highly recommend this teacher. The class lectures are very logical and clear. His voice is a little soft, with a bit of an accent but since he uses slides and provides copies of the slides via email this not a big issue. He assigns pertinent homework assignments, is very available for questions both in office and via email. This teacher works hard to help the students understand the material and makes every effort to help the students do well in the class. He is a very friendly and helpful teacher. You have to keep up in the class and do the homework, but the tests are fair and there are no nasty surprises. Don't forget to do the online quizzes offered by the book publisher - this will be helpful for the test. I would definitely take a class taught by this this teacher again.
