Professor Resek is an openly enthusiastic teacher who clearly conveys difficult concepts to her students. I am re-taking this class because, after floundering the first time through, I wanted to make sure that I really understood the material (plus I wanted a better grade). The difference between Dr. Resek and my first teacher was that Dr. Resek tries to "lead" the class towards the proof. This was a radical departure from my first teacher because my first teacher, who was good in his own right, took more of a mechanical approach and, given my small attention span, began to lose my interest soon thereafter. Professor Resek challenges you to pay attention and stay focused in her class. I highly recommend students in upper division math courses to take Dr. Resek

This is a very hard class. I spent many hours on the homework problems. But that was not enough. I had the greatest trouble with quantifiers. By the time we got to the real analysis stuff, I felt that I was way far behind. Dr Resek is more than willing to help students with homework problems, though, but I was not taking advantage of that enough. I wish I had worked harder in the class. If one has the time, one can learn a lot in this course.

Dr. Resek is one of the greatest teachers I've had. She is very concerned about each student, good at lecturing, and very patient for students asking questions. and Math455(Set Theory) is tough enough, that is, not too easy and not too hard. I bet you can learn a lot form her classes.

As a female math major, I am constantly surrounded by males--students and instructors. It is refreshing to be in a math class where the instructor is also female. As a result, Prof. Resek gives a different view of teaching math than her male counterparts. She brings the material down to the student's level. I have noticed that most of my male math instructors teach in a mechanical approach whereas Prof. Resek teaches in a less robotical, more human approach. If you are a female math major, you need to take her classes. She encourages us, i.e., gives us info on Math Camps/Seminars for Women.
