You won't regret.

This a very interesting class. I learned a lot of things from it. Dr. Salomon is a humorous teacher, who has a passion for his subject and is fair in his evaluation of his students. If you take notes and study you cannot get a low grade. You leave his class feeling that you've learned something that will change your view on some things in life.

Very fair teacher

Although the class was not exactly what I expected, I really enjoyed it. The teacher did a good job of covering the basics of AIS, and made it very interesting. The book and other readings were not dull. The workload consisted of 8 1-page reading assessments due about every week or two weeks. There was also a midterm and a final, constructed almost identically: 10 questions for which he expects about a paragraph blue book answer. He reviews very well before the tests, in a lot of detail and he gives 20 points to study, although he only uses 10 of them (but you don't know which 10 so you have to study all of it).

Good teacher, interesting lecturer - uses powerpoint a lot (which i personally enjoy).

Comment on the Negative Review

I want to comment on the negative review. The class is not based on his opinion but on facts. All the information he gives to his students are all true. Read the book and articles. Doesnt it match his lectures? You cant help having strong and negative opinions on what the Whites have done. By the way, hes referring to the White people from the pass, not the present. So I guess it's OK to have "anti-white" papers.

I think its OK for him to flip through his slides. He knows what he is talking about. Hes not just following the slides and reading it to the students. He talks to the class and does it well. You should be happy that he has them.

He wants his students to have their own opinion and not have the same as his just because its his. He wants you to figure out what your own opinion is.

Carlos is a good teacher. There is nothing wrong with him.

Easy class, biased teacher.

I agree with the other reviewers that this class is relatively easy, though I have yet to take the first test. However, I find his teaching style appalling. I am not Catholic, but even so, many of his lectures have seriously bothered me. When talking about the Spanish takeover of South and Middle America he proceeded to lecture on a few old Catholic stories, and completely discredited them, saying things like "come on, who really believes that?"

I feel as if his class is based more on his opinion of things rather than actual facts.

His argument against the Bering Strait theory was something to the extent of "do native americans really look like asian people? no. that's why it's impossible for us to have come from asia." whta kind of argument is that??

Upon using information from this class on a history class, I received a low grade because the information was incorrect.

In our one page essays, several of us have realized that in order to receive a good grade, we must force ourselves to write anti-white papers.

Also, his lectures are very disorganized, he flips through his power-point slide show constantly, which gives me the impression that he just uses the same lectures semester after semester, and doesn't prepare for each class.

Overall, I would reccomend this class to someone who is not opinionated, like me. If you just want to get the AERM credit with an easy class, and don't care what the teacher has to say, then you might enjoy this class. I can't stand it.

Take this class, you wont regret it

I have taken Carlos for three courses now a Raza History class, AIS 150 & AIS 205. He is a really great teacher and explains everything thoroughly. He makes history interesting and knows the topics that he talks about. He does a really great review for the test (two) and they are different in every class but it's usually written responses to either onequestion (essay length) or ten short answers. He also is not shady with extra credit. He says so himself.."No one should fail this class." I liked him a lot and wish that I could take him for another course at State. He is truly an asset the university. Everything a professor should be. Hell, I retained a lot of information from this class. Take it, it's worth it!

Easy teacher

Exams are not that difficult. As long you take notes and pay attention to lectures. He hands out study guides to prepare you for the exams. Easy teacher.

Very Nice, Friendly, and Cool

Carlos is a really good teacher. He knows what he is talking about and explains everything very well. I think the stuff we learned was very interesting and informative. Most of the time, he uses his computer to show pictures and notes for everyone to copy. There is no long paper but there are one page papers on questions he gives us on an article or chapter from the book. It's due every two weeks and it's pretty straight foward. He also gives a midterm and a final. The tests are pretty easy since he tells you what to write about during the review session. He is very nice and friendly. He has a serious face but he always greets everyone with a smile. He is also pretty funny. I think he is a really cool guy!
