Course helped persuade me to pick up Woms Studies as a 2nd Major

I'm really surprised that no one's written a review on Jillian because everyone I've talked to raves about her. First off, I am not one of those students that generally "enjoys a good challenge." I come to teacherreview.com to figure out what course will be interesting enough to enjoy the lecture while simultaneously requiring the least amount of outside work. THIS WILL NOT BE ONE OF THOSE CLASSES. Yes, the lecture is 100% interesting, but Jillian expects a lot more than showing up and staying awake in class from her students. The good news is despite the amount of reading that you will HAVE to do outside of class (because she will call on you in class if you don't offer your opinion regularly), if you are interested in Women Studies AT ALL (or have a gender) this just might be one of those courses/professors that changes your perspective on life/gender/college all in one. More good news: I've taken both a lecture series and the Gender and Pop Culture course with her and all the reading material was relevant and engaging, all the tests were take-home, the papers relatively brief, and the group projects on topics of your own choice.

You'll want to impress Jillian. You'll want to get an A. When she writes "good job" on your (take home) mid-term, you will put it on the refrigerator. And when she critiques your writing, you won't ever make the same mistake again, and you might be a little embarassed. I just decided to double major in Women Studies and this professor is one of the reasons. Two years later, I'm still telling people the best class of my college career was Jillian's...I've used so much of the theory I learned in this class for papers in other classes and done really well. I look forward to taking another one with her this fall...
