Prof. Scott is the worst instructor I ever have!!!!! Her daytime job is a business consultant and she brought her lip services to the classroom! She is 100% not suit for being a college professor!
1) The class time was not well spent on educating students. Half of the semester class period (3+ months) was spent on reviewing and enhancing powerpoint slides with Prof. Scott in prepare for presentation to the two companies in SF. Very little educated values.
1a) The other half of the class? Prof Scott would ask, let's discuss what we had learn from last week...and that would go on for one night.
2) The two major group projects for this class consumed tremendous and unnecessary time especially with no clear direction or objective. And Prof. Scott provided no or very little assistance in clearing up clouds of questions. Her typical assistance for our powerpoint presentation is, "add a little color here", "put more animated pictures there".
3) The schedule for the two projects overlapped. As a result, it was impossible to concentrate and do a good job on them. Since there were only two big projects, that meant they were the major grade factor (or not? Prof. Scott never showed students how the grade was calculated. And, Prof. Scott never told students how well they were doing in the class.)
4) The comment and recommendation Prof. Scott provided were not concrete enough to help students in learning, or to move toward in a direction because she was not sure what thos two SF companies wanted exactly.
5) Prof. Scott and her TA never responded to emails in related to class questions. NEVER! Check the blackboard discussion section!
6) The syllabus was constantly changed without ever updating the students. Nothing was spelled out on the syllabus or in class. Everything was up to last minute changes whichever suited Prof Scott. Image you went to class this week and the material/direction is totally different than last weeks. That went on for the entire semester!
7) Majority of the written assignments were not related to the course topic.
8) The class was started with 21 students and it ended with 12, and majority of the remaining students (12) from teacherreview.com force to give her a "D-" grade, because an "F" grade does not show the students' anger comments.
If you really want to LEARN how to manage creativity, innovation, change and growth WITH RESULT, as this course subject suggested; do take it with another teacher or at another school!
Definitely NOT to take her class!!! She is an F- teacher!

I'm not one to write reviews about professors, because everyone has their flaws and there's no reason to tell every potential student about them. But after taking Barbara Scott's class, I just had to say something.
Professor Scott is stubborn, extremely disorganized, and will load you up with meaningless work that will not help your learning whatsoever. Don't get me wrong, I did learn a lot from her class, but it was a very painful process and I had to do a lot of "hoop-jumping" to get through the class. This class took over my life, and there was just no reason for that to happen. There were mandatory field trips held outside of regular class time even though Prof. Scott knew that most of the students actually had full-time jobs! Her answer to that was that since it was a class on managing innovation and creativity, that we needed to be "creative" and find ways to miss work in order to attend her field trips. This professor doesn't seem to realize that SFSU MBA students are, in large part, working professionals who have priorities other than her class!
Trust me, this is a professor that you really need to avoid. I'm not one to avoid hard work, but this class meant massive amounts of time and effort for very little payoff in the end. I'm aware that if I give a professor a grade of 'F' that this review will not display. So for that reason and ONLY that reason, I'm giving Prof. Scott a 'D'.
