This instructor is horrible. Not only does she have so many weird quirks, but she is often quite rude and insulting to her students. She does not allow you to record her in class yet she talks so fast that it is very difficult to take notes. If you are able to take notes, you're writing so fast to keep up with her that when you look at it later that night, you're not able to read your own writing. She is also very anal and strict about many things. I won't describe in detail because there's too many. She should just retire.

Dr. Seiden may very well have been a great professor in her day. Sadly, that day is long since over. Not only is she completely unable to answer the most straight forward of questions, she frequently gives mis-information as well. I have managed to be fairly successful in this class, only because I have extensive previous knowledge and experience on the subject matter. She repeats the most useless of information over and over while she merely skims over important and relevant subjects. Don't even bother taking notes in this class. You'll find while reviewing your notes that she says one thing on Monday, and on Wednesday states the exact opposite. There is useful and insightful information to be gained from the texts. Do yourself a favor, buy the books, forget the class!

she is ok. nice, kind of freindly. tough on grading and attendance.likes animals and will talk to you about your pet. occassionaly gets off track. has LOTS of notes. can be unclear and confusing but for the most part will be glad to clairfy, repeat and let you ask questions or tell stories. i guess i would reccomend taking this class. has good knowledge about the subject.

I was really looking forward to taking this class which is supposed to focus on the effects of alcoholism, drug abuse and eating disorders on the family. I have personal experience with the subject matter and I am very disappointed with the superficial manner with which this topic is being treated. I can only assume that this instructer understands very little about the issues she is trying to educate her students about. The instructor is extremely disorganized in her thinking. Most of the time students are confused about what she is talking about. She jumps all over the place, interjecting stories and examples that only confuse the students more. I have talked to many of the students in this class, none of whom are satisfied with the instruction;many even feel that she ought to be reported. I find that attending this class is a frustrating experience that I dread, and I generally love school. The instructor also contradicts herself on a regular basis, which makes the tests very ambiguous and difficult to master. The coursework consists of two tests(midterm and final) and an oral report at the end of the semester. Although there is very little work to be done in this class, it is not an easy class due to the instructor's confusion. It is close to impossible to get a handle on what the instructor expects you to know for the exams. It is really sad that such a serious and potentially stimulating subject is being undermined by this instructor's lack of insight into the material. Avoid it!
