Everytime I came into class, he always seemed too tired to be there. He would talk as if he didn't want to teach, although the words coming out of his mouth were informative.
I despise his midterm/exam format... a lot of the questions were irrelevant to the subject because I found myself unprepared for them although I studied my ass off for the things I thought I had to know.
A lot of the lectures were interesting, but most of them weren't in the midterms so taking notes was totally useless. It seemed better to memorize his lectures because it's the type of class that is easy to absorb. But when it comes to midterms and finals, just about half of the lectures are useless to know. I will give him credit for making the final easy; 50% of it is based on the first two midterms (just study that and it should make the final easier) and the other half is based on new materials.

He's a journalism legend. You are beyond priviledge to share a room with the man. He is extremely attractive as well. He's a sharp dresser and just full of charisma. His mind is so astounding that I have to just comment on his phusical attributes. I love him and I hope he comes back soon so that I can take more classes with him.........................................................Oh Yeah! And he's a MILLIONAIRE!

Sellers is one of the sharpest knives in the journalism department's drawer. His mass media class is engaging and interesting whether or not you are journalism major. Speaking from a working professional's point of view, Sellers knows what he's talking about. He's open to discussion but will occassionally slam on a student and can be formidable. There are two multiple choice tests and a comprehensive final. Students are tested on lectures and reading assignments, so it pays to attend his class.

I cannot say that I am learning all that much in Jour 200. However, Sellers has a unique capability to make connections between already gained knowledge, connections I previously never thought of. His examples are at times pretty far-fetched, (Surveys show: Only 19 new groups brake into the charts, while 21 are killed by lightening annually. Thus, its more likely that you get killed by lightening than make the charts. As I see it, all Americans run the risk of being struck by lightening, but not all try to make it in the music business...) but being the funny, cynical lecturer he is, Ill forgive him just about everything. Its absolutely a class worth taking. Hopefully hell find a better textbook next semester. The one we are using now is dreadfully boring and really doesnt tell you that much.

Sellers will make you learn while laughing at yourself. Or vice versa. He obviously knows very much about his subject. His humour, knowledge and sometimes unbelieveble cynisism break down all the naive views you have of the world (and you probably have a few), and teach you what you came to class to learn in the first place. There are always enough examples to take from. Theory belongs in the textbook. An incredibly confusing and boring textbook by the way - my only point of critizism. In a class the size of Jour 200, it would be unreasonable to expect any personal connection, still he makes you feel like he knows you uncomfortably well, with small ironic comments on how you spend your life. He puts his whole experience and soul into getting his message across. However, the critical view he asks you to apply to the world should be aimed at him sometimes as well...

Sellers knows why he's in the classroom, and he does his job with a high degree of proffessionalism. The class is a straight lecture/exam format, intended to give students a basic understanding of mass media. Don't expect any personal attention, there won't be any in a class this size with no student assisstants. Sellers has a wickedly cinical sense of humor, and if you can keep up with him, he's often hilarious, sort of a one man show. Additionally, the class is valuable in that it dispells and exposes many of the myths of pop culture and mass media. For journalism majors, this class is a must. Sellers is extremely rigid about exam dates ("Missed exams will only be excused by death. Your own.), but given they are the only assignments in the class, I think that this is fair. Based on the amount of material learned in this class, and the highly efficient way in which it is covered, it is this student's opinion that Sellers deserves an A.

This professor was very informative and had a great sense of humor. He taught with a great sense of enthusiasm and always made class interesting when it could have been broing. The only fault I had with him was that he was very discouraging to students going into Journalism... he makes it sound like hardly anyone will make it. Overall a great teacher. Tests were straight forward and there was a minimal amount of homework.
