An good all around teacher.(with a dry sense of humor)

I had the good forturne to take prof. Tenneson's calculus class. He is a paitient and clear speaker. He uses examples in class that most simply demonstrate the covered material and conveys the logic of the process of problem solving willingly. He expects you to do as much homework as you need to, which is hard but he performs as many H.W. problems in class as students request. His tests are fair, the extra credit problems are cryptic and he is available after class for students who need help.

The shyest guy in the west.

Brian is an interesting guy. He is one of the shyest people I have ever come into contact with, yet he chose a profession (teaching) that makes him speak for an hour a day to in front of a large group of people he doesn't know. So if you need energy from a teacher in order to keep your interest, this is not the man for you. However, if you want to learn the subject, then by all means take his class.

The class grading scale is broken up into 5 parts; four tests, and the average of your quiz scores. Each part is worth 20% of your grade. The lowest two quiz scores are thrown out, and you are allowed to use a cheat sheet for the test but not the quizzes. There is homework but it is not turned in. In this class the prof. just told us we should do the problems in the book, but didn't assign any of them. If you do the homework you will be very prepared for the class (which should go without saying for a math class). So motivated students have to do all the problems. If you do the problems in the book and show up for his test review (the class before the test), then you will know the questions on the test; which are all from these two sources, mutatis mutandis.

Brian tells terrible jokes, but is a good guy who wouldn’t hurt a fly. If you have a question he always takes it seriously, and is constantly trying to prove to you why thing are done a certain way. He has a great knowledge of math history and the abstract ideas that are behind the math you are doing.

As a last little side note you definitely want to ask him the root of the world fundamental, you will not be disappointed.

GREAT TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!

He's the best teacher that i have ever had at this school. He explains his lectures so well and it's so organized that I can do most of the homework myself. He has no tricks in his exams. He's a student's teacher, meaning he really does his best to help the student succeed in passing. I still keep his lecture notes because they have helped me with tutoring others. TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!! He's a good guy and he makes learning easy and fun!!!

A teacher that knows his stuff and an easy grader

If you want to make sure you pass 124 Brian is the instructor that will make it happen for you. His quizzes usually have no more than 2-4 problems on them. On his exams he allows you to use a cheat sheet, and the problems he reviews are usually the same problems on the exam. He grades on a curve. It takes a minute to get comfortable with his personality (extremely shy) but the grade is worth it. He wants to see his students do well and pass the course.

Rock out

this guy rocks. he's EXTREMELY organized, giving you all the homework problems for the semester in his syllabus. i remember his jokes were pretty corny, but funny! i would have taken calculus II with him if i could. he's patient and explains concepts well. his exams are easy, if you take the time to do the study guide he hands out. i'm sorry i fell asleep in his class so many times since it was an 8 am class..

Don't take him!

He should not be a teacher that is all I have to say , you think the rest! He has no skills to be a teacher. He assigns too many problems to do and never goes over it. He is always ahead of his game. In lectures we are about a chapter ahead where as in homework we are behind!
