Allyson Tintiangco-Cubales

allyson is *great*! she incorporates a variety of ways to make learning easier, and the class fun. she discusses a whole range of societal issues: race, gender, sexual orientation, and the required texts helped me understand what she was talking about.

as a woman of color, she was on point when we were discussing racism in america towards filipinos/people of color and sexism in regards to men. it was very empowering, and mostly everyone, including men and a couple of white people, really understood how racism and sexism plays a role in their lives -- even if they were white/men. there were a few people who didn't "get" it, but they were too caught up in their privelege as men/white to understand it.

The first thing I noticed about Allyson was that she looked and acted very young for her age, which made it easy to feel comfortable. (The fact that she's really pretty probably made it easy for the guys to pay attention:P) For the class, you have to find an Asian American organization to volunteer for. Allyson grades on the midterm paper(which you write about the organization that you volunteer for), the final paper(on Asian American community) journals about your experiences volunteering, (you get credit for just doing them, she doesn't grade them)and participation/attendance. For all the things, if you at least try, you should get most points. Try on the midterm paper, try on the final, participate/show up, you will most likely get an A. Plus, the class activities were fun, I had fun in the class:)

Allyson is a really cool teacher...she doens't seem like a teacher...she's like a student as well and people can relate to her and have a lot of fun in the class. the only hard thing would be finding a community service...but thats not even that bad...overall the class is simple and fun...allyson is really cool and easy to talk to...as for the other reciew...allyson will not do any of what he said but tell the truth.
