Chris is an extremely funny and engaging instructor. He is very knowledgable on the subjects he teaches, and loves to "rant" in front of the students. He also loves controversy and debate, and this is one of the few classes I have taken where you can express an opposing opinion and still be taken seriously by the instructor. As an "animal person" though, I was a bit hesitant to take the class given the previous 397 review, but I was pleasantly surprised- Chris is definitely an animal person as well, despite his jokes to the contrary. However, be warned- his sense of humor is very dark, and may upset overly sensitive students. In addition, his teaching style is very loose, and he prefers to conduct class as a seminar; if you don't enjoy class discussions or need a highly structured classroom setting, then this might not be the class for you. But, if you have a good sense of humor, and enjoy learning from somebody who wants to hear what you have to say, then take this class. I found it to be a remarkable experience.

If you like animals and believe that they are just a worthy as human animals this is not the class for you nor the instructor. I found him to be arrogant and interrupted students while they were speaking because he was so eager to state what he felt or believed. The reading was at times very interesting and other times it was so human superior based. The test were fair although I did not sit in on the final as I dropped the class early on due to a moral conflict with the class and an issue with the instructor.

This class was so easy!! All you have to do is come to class and take a few notes on his lecture. There is no homework at all. If miss a day or two, just make sure to come to class on his "review" days. He practically tells you everything that's going to be on the test. If you miss 2 questions on the 2 midterms he gives out, you don't have to take the final. I truly recommend taking Mr. Tromborg if you want to take Biology 100.

After getting over my personal inhibition about being taught by a "visually challenged" professor, I realized this was the only thing challenging Chris. He teaches a very interesting class, and has great material, including videos, student seminars, and good lecture material. He sometimes gets off track of the lecture material, but usually relates it to the class somehow. The reader to the NEXA class was very difficult to stay interested in, but Chris has promised to change it for the next class.
