"A nice Chemistry teacher"

I struggled hard core in this class. Chemistry is not my cup of tea, plus it is not my major. I only had to take it beause it was a pre-req. Dr. Tse is a nice teacher however he is a little hard to understand because he has an accent. Sometimes you don't get a direct answer when he answers our questions. There are 3 tests (including the final) and the first 2 exams were pretty difficult. He gave us a break for the final exam. He gave us notes we could use, plus it had material on the 2nd test. Homework is optional and is extra credit if you are getting a C- or below. If you need the lab CHEM 102 or any other Chemistry class and Dr. Tse is teaching, I recommend taking him. He is pretty easy going and he wants to help all students successfully complete the course.

great teacher

Dr. Tse is a very knowledgeable person, he majored in Organic Chem! He was a very easy teacher, homework was alright, stuff you needed to understand chem, but he never collected it (unless you're grade was C- or below he would allow you to turn in the set of hw problems as extra credit). Tests were alright, ALWAYS COME TO REVIEW because he pratically gives you the answers! Just study you're review notes and you should be good to go. He had a slight accent but I could understand him most of time. There were only 3 tests (First 2 worth 100pts, the 3rd test is the final and is worth 200 pts) and 4 quizzes (each worth 25 pts). On the final he allowed us to use the study guides he gave us which totally helped because once you took the final, the answers were right there for you! Quizzes were super easy, he does not try to trick you. He tries to be funny here and there cracking weird jokes that are sometimes funny. I also took him for Chem 102- the lab and he was also very easy in that class. It should be an easy A if you do well on the quizzes each lab and on your reports. The only reason i got a B+ in the lab is because I was messin up on those quizzes. Other then that he was a great teacher!

Mr. Tse Covers Organic with Cheer and Enthusiasm

Organic chemistry, unless you're just absolutely in love with it, is a fairly dry and boring subject matter. Mr. Tse breathed about as much life into it as is likely possible. He was pleasant, trying to cut little chemstry jokes, but also really tried to explian the concepts in detail and clarity. He has a very thick accent but I didn't have any trouble understanding everything he said. He seemed to get a little flustered toward the end of the course (I took the 5 week summer session) but I imagine it's pretty challenging to try and teach so much in so short of a time span. He really would ignore in class questions because I think he simply didn't have the time to address them. His lectures pretty much followed the book, which is a plus. He assigned homework problems, but didn't require you to hand them in unless you felt like it (of course you had to hand them in to get any possible credit). His tests were reasonable an followed his lectures fairly closely. Overall he worked hard to try and teach an incredibly dry topic with liveliness and interest.
