Justine Turner

Justine is an amazing speech teacher! I have this OVERWHELMING anxiety when it comes to giving speeches, but she makes everything feel less stressful. She first sets the classroom environment to be friendly and open so that we feel comfortable sharing ideas in front of each other. She starts the semester out by having each student bring a personal object and talk about it to the class. This really helped me get over my anxiety. She's extremely friendly also. I know many students in my class were upset because she is very uptight about tardies, but I understand where she's coming from. It's hard to be lecturing when students come filing in 20 minutes after class starts. She really likes it when students are punctual. Oh yeah, attendance is mandatory in this class. I didn't have a problem with it because I always attended class, but many students dealt with this. She's a very fair teacher, and she grades your speeches fairly, just as long as she knows that you put time and effort into it. So if you are a punctual student who feels queasy about taking a speech course, I highly recommend Justine. Professors don't get much nicer than this.

Justine Turner is so far the best teacher ive had at SFSU. She has a great personality and is an excellent teacher. She doesnt give any tests but does have the class do a few response papers that aren't difficult. Throughout the semester we learn communication skills and speaking skills. We are required to give two speeches one persuasive and one informative. Mrs. Turner cares about everyone of her students and will give her time to help them succeed. Because of her class I have gained much confedence speaking in front of people. I highly recommend Justine Turner as your speech teacher.
