I thought Dr. Tygiel was an interesting professor and I really liked his class- as a history major, it was one of my favorites in the department and one where I probably learned the most. Since it's one people take a lot for GE requirements, he tried to make the subject interesting and accessible for non-majors, and I think he accomplished that, judging from the response of my classmates, who seemed to like it, too. The choice of texts was pretty good, too. I took this as an evening class in the summer session, so that may help explain why it was laid-back. We watched movies pretty much once a week, but they seemed to be well-chosen and relevant, instead of just time-fillers, which isn't always true for that sort of thing. I would recommend Dr. Tygiel for this class and would have taken it even if I didn't have to for my major.
