I took this class for Fall 03' with Uday. The class was not as easy as I imagined but I am glad I could take this class with Uday. We had 2 midterms and final. All exams are 120 points (20points take-home exam and 100points computation exam) What you have to do with take-home exam is to create some kind of charts with using MS Excel and MS Project. He goes over how to do those step by step during a lecture so no worry even if you don't know much about either one. In-class exams are completely based on his lecture notes and handout problems he gives before exams. So make sure you do those problems and bring to exams since they are all open-note and open-book exams. Some of his exam questions were not easy. I have heard that Uday was advised to make his exams harder by ......in BUS Department. Well but don't worry. Get in a good group and study over weekend before exam. Uday is extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help you. I highly recommend to take his class.

If you like a professor who is very organized and teaches very well, then Prof. Uday is for you.
His class was wonderfully organized and his teaching style is very efficient as well as effective. He writes everything on the board, which is a plus since the exams are based on his notes.
I took him Fall 02 and he was a great professor. He is easier in the sense that he puts everything out in the open so students have a better chance of understanding the material. In addition, since the exam is open book and open notes, you don't have to memorize formulas or things of that sort.

Professor Uday is far most the easiest professor in operations management. His exams are open book and open notes. No homework, just 3 exams. I suggest you go to all his classes as he gives notes on the board.
Dont bother buying the book as it wont be usefull for the exam. However go to the reserve book room and make a copy of the questions.
His exams are fair, but its nothing like the textbook questions. His exams usually have 5-6 questions and the paper is around 120points, out of which around 10-20 points is based on the take home exam which is easy to score.
Dont be to confident if you do well in both his midterms as the final exam is 40% and it can really hurt ur score if you do badly.
I would recommend taking him.

Prof. Uday's lectures are organized and easy to understand, and you'll pass the course if you go every class and take notes.
The class consists of: 1.take home lab exam 2. 2 midterms & final
There is not much else to say about prof.uday, but he tries his best to make the class interesting. Basically, the more you know the material, the higher grade you'll get in class. Try doing many different HW problems to understand the material.

Prof. Uday is definitely one of the better teachers here at state. His lectures are clear, concise and organized. We had 3 exams (the final is not cumulative). You can use your notes on the exam however don't underestimate this class - it definitely requires studying. At least one problem on the exam will have some sort of a twist where your notes won't help much if you don't understand the material completely. It's difficult to get an A in this class, but B shouldn't be a problem. Find someone who took the class, and get their exams. It should help.

Professor Uday is one of my favorite professors. He lectures very clearly and in very professional manner. His handwriting is very artistic. Although the exams are not easy, you still can make good grade if you work hard. I highly recommend this professor to all the students who need to take BA 412.

Uday is a boring teacher, but it's not a hard class. Prepare to take alot and alot of notes from the board. He writes all of his notes on the board and bases his exams on it. This semester I copied over 80 pgs of notes from the board!! If you are the type not going to class, make sure you get the notes from someone in class. Without the notes, you will fail the course. He does not lecture, but only repeats what ever is on the board. For each type of problem that is on the exams, it will be on the notes. He gives full example problems on the board on each chapter. There are only three exams, no quizes, no hand-in homework and the 3rd exam is The Final. The Final only covers everything after exam 2. If you have all the notes from the board and review the notes for the exams, you will get an easy "B-" on the course. On the homework problems he gives out, only do the ones that are simiar to the example problems on the board. Its a waste of time to do all of them cause it won't be on the exams. On the exams he allows one page of "formula sheet"(front and back). Everyone puts there notes on the "formula sheet", it seems that he does not care what is on the "formula sheet". I always shrink all my notes into the "formula sheet" and I sit right in front of his desk. He never said a word. Some of the homework problems from the book are harder than the examples from the text book, don't do them, it will not be on the exams. On my first exam,I got a "C", I did all the homework problems that he gave from the book and did not review the notes. On my second exam, I got a "B+", I only reviewed the notes and redid the example problems from my notes. I have friends that did not even buy the text book and only concentrated only on the notes and got a "A-" for the course. He also grade fair on the exams, if you do not know how to do a problem, don't just leave it blank, just write anything close about the problem, and he will give you some credit. You can also get over 100% on the exams, sometimes up to 120%. He will add all the percentages up and divide by 3 (exams) to get your course grade.

Prof Uday is THE most boring teacher I have ever had a SFSU. He walks in without a hello or good afternoon. Goes straight to the chalkboard and just writes while he lectures the entire time in his monotone voice. I think he smiled twice the entire semester. Some may not care, but I for one need an interesting teacher to get me through such a boring class. My other gripe is that his lecture format differs from the book format enough that it is hard to even follow along in the book while he lectures. I have heard that the other BA teachers use the book more, and the tests are open book...so I strongly recommend trying the other teachers. He should not be a teacher if he doesn't ENJOY teaching.

Prof. Uday is wonderful. He is totally straight forward and without any" professorial attitude." His exams test the information that is covered in his lectures. Ther are no surprises on the exams. He does not try to be tricky and he is sincerely caring about his students. Uday is without a doubt the best teacher I have had at SFSU. I recommend him highly.

Nobody with some interest on the class can fail this class, if it is taken with Uday. He is the best professor I ever have at SFSU. His explanations are so clear that I guess that even if do not read the book, and just practice the exercises before the test you will be fine.
I wish all the professors were like him. He makes students think before giving his explanations on how to solve a problem. Besides, he also explains how to solve everything using Excel, so we can learn to apply it at work.
With this class you will learn to use Excel to solve problems with Linear Programming, Forecasting, etc.
For his tests he asks to solve one question in Excel (take home part). However, you may need to understand very well your report because there are questions regarding analysis of it on the other part of the exam (in class).
You will learn things that can help you for your interviews also...STRONG ANALYTICAL SKILLS!
