Mike Vasey

Prof. Vasey is a fantastic instructor. It is very obvious he is passionate about the subject matter, which makes it effortless to engage yourself in his lectures. He provides vital information that every human on this planet should already possess. This is one of the only classes I have taken that I walked away with information I can apply to the way I live my life.

The thing that annoys me most about this guy is that he talk too much. He will lecture up till the last minute of the class time, which is extremely frustrating. His lecture is pretty boring, and he should notice that the whole class is start losing concentration... So I often leave the class early. His tests are pretty easy, because it's all multiple choices and it's like 99% similar with the old exam. Take hime if you want to get a good grade but you must prepare to get bored. I suggest you to bring CDs or magazine to the class. I remember there's even one girl doing manicure during his lexture...

knowledgeable, fair and enthusiastic. 2 exams, 1 paper, 1 group project. none very difficult, but all interesting. if you show up and complete assignments you'll do well. the only book worth purchasing is the E.O. Wilson text-- it's a good book and the only one we used or saw test questions come from.

Professor Vasey is a really amazing teacher with a lot of energy and a lot of knowledge that he tries to share. He makes the class interesting by bringing in speakers from the field and videos that actually correspond to his topics. At times, especially if you have him for a three hour block, you will be overwhelmed, but it is just because he has so much information to give about a topic he is passionate about.

He was a joke! The class was very easy and boring!!! He is a great guy, but I could not help skipping his class cause he was just too into his work. Take him he is easy! Oh, I never bought his book and did just fine!

No doubt that this is the best class I took. The class was more like a summer camp. Everyone who was in the class felt like close friends. Everyone was nice. Vasey is the coolest teacher. He tolerates a lot from students but always remain his wonderful self. Highly Recommended to Everyone. I would make this class a requirement if I could. The Most Memorable Experience of all the classes in college.

I think everyone should take this class. Micheal Vasey is an awesome instructor, and the class is vital. Our planet is endangered, and we need to become aware, and proactive in protecting what remains.

What a wonderful teacher and person! It is really delightful to be currently enrolled in his class. He teaches from the hands on experience. He has a great method of teaching and encourages participation at ease. We have a lot of fieldtrips that take place in or arount the Bay Area and we keep a journal of our fieldtrips which we will turn in to him 2 times during the semester. He does take attendance and you know what you won't miss any of the lectures and field trips because it is a fun class. There are no tests only a research paper and your journal. I strongly reccommend this instructor to anyone since he really knows what he teaches. This so far has been a very invaluable experience and I walks and hikes will never be the same again, because I will look and notice nature the way I never had before.

2 midterms and a final, and a journal. Too bad this site doesn't rate for A+, because he definitely deserves one!!! He should also be an academic advisor because he has a lot of creative and helpful hints towards choosing your classes. This particular class is a great introductory class towards ecology and conservation biology. As a part of the segment three cluster, I would recommend this class to ANYONE on campus, you learn a lot about everything concering issues in ecology. Mike is an overall awesome guy who was born to be a teacher!!
