Dr. Verma shares a lot of knowledge about Open Source. This class teaches you about alternatives to proprietary softwares. Homeworks could range from essays to case analysis. Final exam was take-home. Group project composed of writeup and presentation about Maturity Assessment of an open source project. Im glad I took this class because it opened my eyes to other areas of Information Technology. Dr. Verma is an awesome professor! I find his lectures very clear. Yes, he comes from India but he speaks clearly and I understood everything he said, considering English is my second language. I highly recommend this to ISYS majors.

I am surprised by some of the earlier reviews, particularly those by foreign students critical of the grade they received because they were afraid to participate verbally in class. Prof Verma has a strong indian accent but he has clearly and successfully made an effort to be articulate in English - you can too. Furthermore, isn't it ludicrous to suggest that a foreign-born professor would grade foreign students more critically due to their difficulty with language? Not sure, but I have seen only appropriate accomodation and patience (neither coddling nor discrimination) in all of my classes including this class.

He's a nice teacher, really approachable and you will learn a lot about current issues in the IT world. Building the websites both group and individual will require a lot of time to do. I do have a few complaints, however. I feel it was a little unfair this semester since he was out sick for the last week and wasn't available. He only gave us a 16/20 for the group project and we would've liked to ask him for advice or help since he offered it earlier. Also, even though there will only be about three or four people who speak in class(seriously), make sure you're one of them. Class participation counts for 15% and the people I know (including myself) were surprised to only get 9-10/15 for that. He doesn't define clearly how that's graded or how you're doing for that part. That's a lot of points to miss and he didn't grade easy there. I did so well in all other areas of the class on my way to an A, but participation cost me and I only got a B+.

MBA course for people who know very little about information technology and Prof. Verma knows that. He teaches in a very clear and concise manner so anyone can understand. He is very helpful and really wants the student to learn. The individual and final project is building a websites and I learned a great deal and very glad I chose this class!

Professor Verma is a wonderful Professor. I took him on Thursday night this past semester Fall of 2001. He is so helpful and patient when answering questions. He really wants his students to learn. He is so kind that he offered his students that we can come talk to him if we needed someone to talk to about the September 11th tragedy. Anyhow, Professor Verma teaches very clearly and very well. He has a very nice personality. He seems like he loves his students and enjoys teaching a lot. He also is interested in making sure that his students are enjoying the new student lounge in the Business Building. I don't know why one of the reviews on this website said that he thinks he knows it all, because Professor Verma is not like that at all. People should not say things that is not true. Anyhow, you will definitely learn a lot in his class. There was 2 midterm exams, 1 final exam, and 1 group project. He is also a very fair grader. I think the school should give him a raise for being such a wonderful teacher. Keep up the good work Professor!!! =)

WOW! Professor Verma's class is quite the experience. I had one of the best times in his class simply for the fact that the man knows how to teach a course. A lot of instructors are very knowledgeable but lack teaching ability. Fortunately, Sameer Verma not only has command of the subject but he makes it interesting for his students to follow along, even those who don't like BICS. I took him for 565 and have no regrets, only praises. I just wish The BICS department would get their heads out of their asses and start hiring more professors like Prof. Verma, maybe everyone would be more excited about their major instead of dreading every minute of it. If you want a fair instructor who doesn't have too many tricks up his sleeves on exams and the project or term paper is fairly easy, I say use those lil fingers of yours and key in Verma's registration schedule number and you won't regret it!

To be frank, his class was boring. You don't expect learn anything from him. Especially for foreign students, since you can't speak very well, then you can't get good grade in presentation.Students got good grades always give good grades to teachers as returns. Therefore, I give him a C because I got a C.I call it "even".

Well, the overall class is not hard at all and you get to learn about networking and windows2000. Verma is a pretty easy grader on exams and there are no trick questions, so most people got b's and a's on the exams. He did not grade as easy as the exams on the project/term paper + presentation which counts as 20% of your grade. He does tend to think he knows it all and brags about it which can be annoying sometimes. And he puts 7% of your grade for class participation so you need to ask or comment even if you have nothing to say. But i think the whole semester, only 3 people ever talked in that class. OVerall, i would recommend verma, while he's not the best in the university, his teaching style is probably the best in the department.

He understands the material very well, and is able to convey the information clearly. The project is an excellent learning tool. Tests are based on 10 short answer questions, where you have to answer 8. Not tricky, but they test your understanding of the material. Excellent teacher!

I just sat for one of his class and had to drop for other reasons. Intend to take his class in future. But have a feeling that he is goin the Sayeed way. I see a sayeed in him. If thats true, its bad. Sayeed is one usless guy who has an attitude and thinks he knows everything. Hope he is not influenced by sayeed to such an extent that he starts grading the sayeed way. Somebody save him from Sayeed.

Verma is awesome! Even for the idiots he is able to explain the most complex ideas/processes. His tests are really fair. He tells you exactly what to study for. One group project (report/presentation) was required.

He is the best prof. In all sense.. He is just too good. The best thing I liked in him is that he is very very approachable. He is a very friendly person. San Franciso State needs Profs like him.
