this is a good teacher

Professor Wagner is one of the best accounting teacher that i have had. i've taken acct in the past before and this was the only teacher that i was able to pass in. he gives you a practice test before every exams. his exams are similiar to the homeworks and the practice test. alll his exams are based on his lectures, hint:you do not need to buy the book. i did not buy the book and i still passed his class. he teaches very well, but his personality is kind of wierd.

Okay teacher

Wagner knows his stuff. TEACHES real fast. Exams you had to really study for. It's a fair class. If you don't study and come to class and take notes, you'll probably fail. But if you do. No problem. He's aite.

Best Accounting Professor at SFSU

This guy knows what he's talking about and he makes sure everyone else in the class understands. After a terrible experience with ACCT 301, I seriously contemplated on changing my major until I met Prof. Wagner. Just go to every class meeting for his lectures and notes are extremely helpful in getting through the class. In fact I never read the textbook and only studied his notes and homework assignments. I will be more than happy to take his classes again. Again go to every class meeting.

Don't take Wagner!

Mr Wagner taught the class way too fast. It is impossible to understand what he is saying and writing at the same time. The first day of class he told us that there was a girl that came to see him after every class last semester and she ended up getting a C, what does that say about those of us who don't have an hour after every class - take my advice...take another teacher!

A BIG NO for ACCT 100... Other ACCT Students Beware.

I would first like to make it clear that professor Wagner did appear to know his stuff. However, the main issue I experienced was that his teaching style and techniques were in no way beneficial to the students. He went through the material very quickly and, although he did attempt to answer students questions, the material often took priority. Most of the students in my class either hired tutors or taught themselves from the book. In any case, the grades on the tests were, across the board, pretty poor. The good news, for students'GPA at least, was that he used a very, very liberal curve for his final grades. From his other reviews, it appears that professor Wagner is an excellent teacher in higher division Acct courses. However, in my opinion, his lower divion course structure could use a lot of help. I would not recommend his classes to anyone. In conclusion, as an alternate option, I would strongly recommend Professor Franz. He has an excellent teaching style but his classes are always the first to fill up. Good Luck!

Tough but good

If you want to learn about accounting, take this class.

He presents the material in a way that is very clear, and reinforced by real life examples if applicable... most of the time. And when it is not clear, especially for difficult concepts, he goes back and explains it until it makes sense. The class is pretty fast paced, and a lot of material is covered.

The class average on tests in my class was usually a C and that is with the grading curve. More than half the class dropped by the time the finals came. Of those that remained, a good portion did not pass the class.

Tough class. If you want to learn accounting, he is a good teacher. My suggestion is to never miss a lecture. He covers so much material in one session that you will be lost if you miss it.

Lastly, save yourself 100 bucks and don't buy the book. It was never used in class. The book was hard to follow and paled in comparison to his lecture notes.

One of the best accounting teachers

Professor Wagner is one of the best accounting teachers I've encountered. He makes you think about what you're doing, instead of just memorizing accounting steps. This helped me understand the basic concepts a lot. I can't say he's an easy professor, but when you're in an advanced accounting class, you really don't want an easy-A-kind- of professor. Mr. Wagner will teach you accounting, but you have to put in your part. He's fair in grading and answers any questions you might have after class. The only complaint we had was that he was a bit fast paced in his lectures. He really motivated me to learn accounting and actually made it fun. I've heard different reviews from other students and I think the reason for this is that students have to put in as much as they get from a class. Professor Wagner will give you a great accounting course, but only if you show him the same respect in wanting to learn the material.

The Best Acct. 100 Professor For Hard Working Students

Professor Wagner, like many other Acct. professors was very challenging. However, being in a class like his was extremely beneficial towards my knowledge of accounting. His work requires a lot from you, but if you stay consistent throughout the semester you should be fine. I've read other Acct. 100 professors reviews and decided to take him because of his type of exams which were actual acct. problems, not t/f, multiple choice. But if you are that type of person that does better with those types of exams do more research on who's the best for your skills. He did talk about having multiple choice exams, however. His homework problems were close to the exam problems, so study them!

A good teacher

Overall, he is a good teacher that his students can learn many accounting rules and knowledge from him. I am saying he is good not because I got good grade from his class. I got C on Acct301, which also taught by him too! However, I think I really learn a lot from him so I took his acct 302. Hint: You have to fully understand his notes; otherwise, you will fail his class!

Excellent teacher

Professor Wagner is very competent in his field. He explains the course material very systematically. If you read the book before you come to his class, you can follow him very well and understand all the materials completely. His homework is always the hardest questions one can find regarding the topic. Hardly one can get the homework done perfectly correct the first time. He always talks about homework in detail the day it is due. After doing the homework you'll find that you've already got everything you need to know about the topic. The test is similar to homework questions. Taking notes in his class is important, because sometimes his approach is different from that in the book. If you don't understand something in his class, just ask and make sure you follow him well. He is a little bit fast in explaining materials and thus you'll get more information in class time. He is willing to answer all kinds of questions.

Excellent!!!

I had a blast in Prof. Wagner's class. I really didn't think I would have the motivation to attend class on Saturday mornings, but to my surprise, I really looked forward to it. Wagner made it fun. His inviting personality and sense of humor made his lectures interesting to listen to. As most people know, accounting is a tough subject; however, Prof. Wagner made it comprehensible. My only complaints is that, at times, he went too fast. I think it reflects the fact the he usually teaches intermediate accounting. Perhaps, he forgets that our class was the introductory class. For the most part, though, Wagner is a wonderful teacher. You'll learn a lot from him. My advice is to read the chapters before going to class. It will make your life so much easier. If you don't do well on the first exam, don't be discouraged. As long as you keep up with the readings and the homework, you'll be all right. Just stick it out. Wagner gives homework every week, and I suggest that you do all them. You can bet that it will show up on the exam. If you apply yourself and work hard, you'll do well in his class. Wagner is great. Take him...you won't regret it.

Take this teacher

Prof. Wagner is indeed a challenging professor. He has this stupid tendency to expect college students to actually think like college students. Go figure. That is totally irresponsible of him.

Unfortunately, many students @ SFSU feel that they should not work hard to learn. They feel that since this is not Princeton or Harvard they should not work. Well a university, any university, is not grade school. If you are confused, it is incumbent upon you to seek assistance. All profs have office hours. There is an accounting lab, w/ tutors in science 202. If you are coming up short get assistance.

The C+ I received in Wagner's class was my first non- A in an accounting class. Was it Wagner's fault? No. It was a lack of dedication to the process. If you want to be spoon-fed go to CCSF and take your intro accounting classes. But if you expect to get good grades @ the university level, take the initiative and do the work. While SFSU may not be Harvard or Stanford, when you leave you will work shoulder to shoulder w/ such grads. Quit bitching and get prepared.

If this is your first time taking Accounting (ACCT 100), do not take the course from Prof. Wagner. He flies through the material without making sure the class understands it. In my experience it is extremely hard to get much out of his lecture. Maybe it's because I take his class one night a week, which i don't recommend, but that isn't a valid excuse for the way he teaches.

I really like the way he spreads out the material. If you take his class for acct 302, you have to constantly study for his class because he gives nine quizzes and one project. However, each quiz only covers one chapter, or one topic, so it is much easier than taking a exam that covers a lot of chapters. He is a pretty fair teacher. The only thing I don't like about him is that he is always laughing at my 49ers since he is a Raider fan. Oh, one more thing, RAIDERS SUCK!
