Keith Waxman

Keith is a great guy with an awsome personality. I swear he should get some kind of a best teacher award or something. What I liked most about the class is everything he talks about is interesting, even if you don't like Astronomy or science, he'll get you into it. Just be sure to be at every class and take notes. Yeah, 80% of his tests does come from his lectures, but I have to recommend getting the book because there are going to be stuff in the test that comes from the book. The only reason I didn't do well was because I missed a class or two, and I also fell asleep at times. (and I'm still hitting myself for screwing up). Just attend every class, stay awake, and take ALL his notes lol. If you're taking this for GE, then take THIS class. You won't regret it.

Waxman is an okay teacher, about 80% of the exams are from his lecture. You don't need to buy the book because it doesn't help. His exams are really tricky so you should read each question carefully. All of his exams are multiply choice. He doesn't grade on a curve, but he does give in-class extra credit, which is really easy. If you miss his class, just email him that you were sick and he will give you the extra credit. I got all D's on my exams, but if I got a C+ on the final, I could have gotten a C- with the extra credits. He always passes out 2 different color exams, one could be blue or white, but it has the same questions like if the blue had 1-20, 1-20 would be 21-40 on the white sheet. So he just puts the questions opposite from each other. After each exam, he lets you keep the exam sheet to check your answers at home. It good to take his class with a friend because you can help each other.

He's the best professor ever!!! His class is fun. I strongly recommend you to take Keith's class. You'll love this class!! Taking note is very important. All of the exams are based on the notes. 3 Midterms and a final. The lowest midterm will be dropped. Purchasing the textbook is not necessary. He hates people sleeping during his lectures and all cellphones must be OFF!! In general, this class is awesome!!!

Keith is awesome... he makes a three hour long class fly by- he obviously has a passion for what he is doing, and it's nice. He will help you anytime- go to his study sessions prior to tests- and his personality is great. But, his exams are a little tricky, not because they are hard, but it is easy to make mistakes. There is no homework or projects, and do not buy to the book. Your lucky to have him as a teacher.

Personally, I didn't like Astronomy- but I actually looked forward to coming to Waxman's class!! He made Astronomy easy to understand and fun to learn. This class was pretty easy. You don't even need to buy the book- your notes are good enough for the tests. No math at all- compared to other teachers I hear horror stories about long equations. No homework!! Take this teacher if you want a fun class where you will learn alot.

Kieth is amazing!! I am not an astronomy major and i loved his class. He explains things so that anyone can understand them. You do not need an astronomy background to take this class. He constantly makes jokes and its not too hard to keep your attention focused (which can be hard to do during 3hour classes such as Kieth's) But he always gives you a break halfway through and he usually lets you out about a half an hour early. There are 3 exams and 1 final. He drops your lowest exam score. But you do have to go to class, just because there's so much information covered during each session that when you miss one your totally behind. And he does several little in-class assignments which are super easy (he'll give you the answers if you ask him to) it's just basically to see if you were there, he doesnt take roll and there are no out of class assignments. I reccomend this class to everyone =)

If you want to take a Astro Lab take Keith! He is a really good professor. He is always available if you need help for class or for Astronomy class. He is funny, his lectures are good so you will be able to understand, and his quiz are good as long as you study. My advice take him!

Keith is just one word: GREAT! You learn a lot in his class and frankly, this is the only ONLY night class I can stay awake and take notes everytime. He is very funny, talkative and interesting. DON'T buy the book coz you never need them. YOU DO need to attend his lecture tho to Aces this class. Otherwise, I would recommend taking it with a buddy and his NOTES is probably the only thing you need to pass the test. Take Keith for astronmy, I highly recommend him!!

Professor Waxman is just the coolest teacher ever. He makes the class so interesting with his great personality and lively teaching style. He doesn't focus on all the BS math concepts like other teachers might, instead, he makes the subject (which already is very interesting) easy to learn by making the class so interactive. All his tests are multiple choice and there are no HW assignments so it is up to you to learn the material. You don't even need a book because all the subject matter on the test is straight from his lecture.

ok, this guy is great! He gives no homework for his lecture class or even his lab. He does not even take attendence. At random times he will give a pop stupid question quiz as your attendence. For example: What is your favorite color? He only does that random times and each time that you answer the question you earn five points. His exams are a little tricky, but not too bad. You must study for his exams! As far as his lab, well its about three hours long once a week, but he makes it interesting. Oh yes, he has braces, so he can't pronounce s letter so he sounds funny. So overall he is a young man who is very nice and friendly. I do recommend him.

Keith is a great teacher who tries to motivate his students. He is the only teacher that I had so far that can keep a night class from falling asleep. His lectures are fun, becuase he makes it really easy to understand without reading the textbook. He's really engaging and animated, sorta hyper especially when its topics that he really likes. His exams were painless (he'll even tell you what to study on your notes). There was only 3 exam and 1 final, there is no hw at all for his class except five in-class assignments. So you have to go to get those points. You should definally take him, if you have no clue about astronomy and want to have a great teacher who know his stuff.

I cannot say enough good things about Keith!! If anyone has to take ASTR 116, he's the one to teach it. He makes the class easy and fun. He was not only an awesome Lab teacher but he always offered to help with my Astronomy homework from other classes. And he would sit down and help whenever I asked. I only wish I could have had Keith for Astr 115 as well. Any Astronomy class Keith is teaching is worth taking. If you want a relaxed and easy going Astronomy Lab teacher, Keith is perfect! I only wish my other professors could have been as caring and understanding as he was. There's a reason no one has posted a grade below an A for him, he's the best professor you could get for this class!

Keith Waxman is a fun teacher to have. He is so enthusiastic about his subject matter that it's easy to fall into his good mood. He has a great attitude and a great work ethic. His exams were painless (he'll even tell you what to earmark on your notes) and his lectures were fun. In fact, it's fun just watching him lecture. He's really engaging and animated. He's kind of hyper but that's what makes the class interesting. He wants everyone to do well in his class and does his best to make sure that happens.

Keith is a great teacher who tries to motivate his students to do well. He tries to make the labs fun and enjoyable and does his job well. I actually learned more from him in my lab class than I did in the actual Astronomy class. If you need to take a lab for Astro 115 and you want it to be a fun, interesting, relaxing, and lively environment, then I highly recommend taking Keith's class. He is nice and understanding and really tries to help you learn the material in an interesting way.

Keith Waxman is an incredibly animated teacher whose lectures do not drag on and who gives students every opportunity for extra credit. (Buy 2 D batteries for an extra quiz grade) I highly recommend him.
