Eugene D. Weinstein

I think that Dr. Weinstein is a fantastic teacher, despite what the others may say. I find his enthusiasm for his class encouraging, and his knowledge of the subject superb. The tests are not very hard at all if you simply study for them, and he is a very fair grader. On more than one occasion, he changed a student's grade because he has an open mind and is willing to listen to an argument (for example, when going over the quiz, he will listen to an explanation of why someone put down a wrong answer, and if it's valid, he will change the grade). not only this, but he is very kind and funny. I thoroughly enjoy his class

I think professor Gene is very knowledgable in his field. He knows his material very well and is available to talk to you during office hours. He helps you if you need help. Although I do agree that at first the class might seem really hard, which might discourage some students to drop. But if you stick in there you will make it. I will recomend this class to political science majors.

I would concur with virtually all parts of the previous review. However, there are some really positive aspects to Gene's teaching style that I wish to point out. First, he personally corrects all work done i.e. tests,quizzes,papers,etc. always attaching a small piece of paper with typed out critiques (not only negative comments, but also positive ones). This requires a great deal of time on his part, so he definitely is no lazy instructor and must really care for the student's welfare to undergo such a tedious and time consuming process. He also, when asked a question by a student, gives very long and complete answers, showing a generous side to him as a Professor. In closing, Gene is a hard working, dedicated instructor who can truly impart a great deal of knowledge to the student, especially if he/she is receptive to it. The key thing with Weinstein, is to be thickskinned and not get bent out of shape by anything he may say that doesn't sit well with you, since you stand to learn an awful lot from him.

Prof. Weinstein is a tremendously well-read instructor, who has a vast depth of knowledge on Political/Legal issues. One of his problems is his speech, it can be a bit painful listening to him talk with his slurring and somewhat stuttered way of speaking. Setting that aside, he can be opinionated with the student, making insensitive comments to them which has the effect of dashing the students hopes in pursuing the field they're studying. He's not much of an encourager, rather a cynical, full of himself instructor who has the effect of putting down students to feed onto his ego. If only his attitude would change, he could practically move mountains with the big brain he has!
