Nancy had the challenge of introducing new graduate students to the broad range of areas covered by geography. She gave intersting and challenging assignments that let students discover the field for themselves.

Fascinating class. Most students weren't very interested, but I was. I found Nancy's lectures engaging and funny and smart. She cares about her subject. She tries to get discussions going on a wide variety of fascinating topics. The text was extremely dated; the class would have benefited by covering more recent research. But the instructor is interested in challenging students' minds, and that is the most important thing a professor can do.

Good information provided, but sometimes lacks detail. Tests are not too difficult. Grades only best two of three tests. Not too much homework, but some assignments are too lengthy for the amount of points that are offered for a completed assignment.
