Lynda lectures were scattered and incomprehensible. She rarely stayed on topic and made frequent errors when doing sample problems. she also made a habit of badmouthing and arguing with students in the middle of lecture. i gave up on going to lecture early on, and taught myself the material from the textbook.
i was very excited to take physics and was eager to learn, but lynda had nothing to offer her students.
oh did i mention that her exams were poorly written and often contained errors.
i suspect that she wont be teaching this class again, but if she does- do not take it!

Lynda Williams is alright. She does seem cooler than most teachers since she's younger and has a perky personality, however, I didn't enjoy her class AT ALL. It was her first time teaching Astronomy the semester I took her so I don't know if that was just the problem.
Anyhow, I thought Astronomy was going to be fun but it turned out to be a BORE -- it was nothing I expected! I don't know if it's the material to blame but the previous review is right...Astronomy seemed more like a math class at times!
Anyway, going back to Lynda, I simply H-A-T-E-D her homework ..as in I friggin STRESSED my brains out everytime we had homework because it seemed like waaaaaay too much. It felt like we never got a break; there was always something due soon. (By the way, the homework usually consisted of a whole bunch of short answer type questions from the book and some multiple choice questions.) The tests, on the other hand, were ok (scantrons) and Lynda was pretty nice about it (she let us bring 1 page of notes).
I guess it's the material and how Lynda chose to teach the class that I had a problem with. I mean I've heard of other Astronomy classes that turned out to be really fun and interesting but this one was such a big disappointment! Well, Lynda did say that, "Math is the foundation of all sciences" but I don't know.... All I know is her lectures were a pain to sit through and a lot of times, I found myself doodling/not paying attention at all. Perhaps, if she made class a little more interesting, I would have appreciated her more. Maybe she should've shown more films, at least? Oh well. Astronomy is probably just not her forte.
By the way, she has a website if you want to check it out: http://cannon.sfsu.edu/~lwilliam/

At first, Lynda seemed alright but about a month into the semester I could not stand her. HEr lectures are uninteresting and I'm still sick of her stupid jokes. She is not a good teacher and her HW load is too much for an ASTRONOMY class. I coulda sworn I was taking a math class. She is a bad teacher and despite what everyone else said about her, I would not recommend taking this sorry excuse for a teacher.

Lynda is an enthusiastic, friendly and engaging professor. She is passionate about her subject matter, and her lectures reflect this passion. Her inexperience occasionally shows, but all told she is a fantastic teacher.

Lynda Williams is a very enthusiastic teacher with enormous capacity in the knowledge in physics and astronomy.
She is extremely flexible in most of the critera. Also, she has impressive work done besides the ones that are merely related to the school.

Lynda has a quirky teaching style. She seems to relate better with the students, could be that she is only about ten years older than the average student population, rather than thirty years older... She runs a good lab, demonstrates the experiments well, and gets you to understand what is happening, rather than running the experiment like baking a cake. She seems to care if you know more, and it shows. Her grading is fair, she even will give points if you worked the problem out correctly, but arrived at the wrong answer. She's cool like that. So, she knows Physics, and cares about You knowing Physics too. The first day, she announced, "In here, you're all Physicists."

I was used to hate Physics for 10 years. Lynda "lightened" up my school life by making this class funny. She looks like a student, acts like a hippy, talks like a comedian (she has a gorgeous body too!). I can hear some laughs every 15 minutes in the class. The lecture is clearly organized and interesting. (She always tries to do a show rather than a lecture) Homeworks and quizzes are easy to handle if you put a little effort. However, for those who wanna cut the class sometimes, there is a bad news that we need to hand in the homeworks every class. Exams are relatively easy. For those who really have difficulties, she will give out sample exams and review before the real exam comes. I don't like science, though. However, her enthusiatic attitude towards Physics and teaching changed me a little. She is my best instructor in College I've ever had! Go see her webpage and you'll know how she is: http://cannon.sfsu.edu/~lwilliam/
