Whew! The other review told almost all. Being behind on the reading schedule wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't put several books on the reading list. He's very accomplished, so it wasn't surprising when 1 of the books had an article and poem written by him, and the first text, he co-authored. At the university level, this is not inappropriate. Yes, we read EVERYTHING out loud, it seemed that he didn't trust us to complete the reading assignments, when most of us had done the reading TWICE. Once when it was assigned, and the again, more than a month later, when we actually GOT to it. He changed the original syllabus. Again, not a big deal. He ended up making an oral presentation optional. Weeks later, he forfot that. Again, fine. Three of us had to call out the specific date that he made the decision on, only to have him accuse us of misleading him a week later. He did make a lot of noise about the class being behind, and since we were afraid of saying anything that might blow him FURTHER off the point, participation was pretty weak. Dr. Wilson has had an incredible life. He has accomplished amazing things. He is clearly an exceptional individual. That said, I would rather clean bathrooms than hear his meandering lectures ever again. I would, however, buy him a meal just so I could hear him tell stories or joke around, he really is a pleasant individual. BUT his 162 is a trainwreck. Get out while you can.

Although professor Wilson is a very interesting and friendly individual, he is not a good professor, period. We are about an entire book behind the dates printed on the syllabus, and to be honest I do not find any point in attending class. He rambles on about irrevelant information, gets off topic WAY too much, READ us the table of contents from our text books for heavens sakes, and basically wastes the entire class period talking about what we should be doing, instead of actually doing it!! The class is so extremely unorganized that we have no idea what he really expects us to know or what we are supposed to be doing or reading. He did hand out a suggested reading list for the last month of class, which crammed about half of the semester into this month, in order to make up for the time that HE wasted....not us. This class has so much potential, but professor Wilson does not use any of it. One positive note is that he did increase my awareness of American Indian Issues, but the overall learning process was limited. I do not reccomend this class by any means.
