Unfortunately she is the only professor that teaches this course and it's required. I can't even tell you the things I'd rather be doing that listening to her go on and on about pointless irrelevant information. Her tests are 50 multiple choice and true or false questions in paragraph form. She either tries to make tests tricky or she has no idea how to design a test. You would think they would be about important information, but instead they are word for word sentences pulled directly from the text. If you memorized the book word for word then you have a chance at an A otherwise good luck. When students asked her about their grade she never emailed them back or she told them she didn't have the time to review grades. She really shouldn't be teaching. I'm sorry for anyone that has to endure her dreadful lectures.

Dr.Yang's lecture was deadly boring to me. Though it's easy to get a high grade, you will learn nothing, dude. Her ibus330 isn't challenging at all. She only gives materials from the textbook, nothing new, nothing special. Don't waste your time and money on this class. It's meaningless.

This is a pretty easy class. Do well on the tests and you will be fine. 3 tests and a an ok project.

I would say that Professor Yang is fair teacher. All her exams are by the book, but make sure that you don't miss details in every examples. Lecture: Pretty boring, but she's pretty knowledgeable on Culture Analysis. To avoid falling asleep, try to participate as much as you can. Personality: Exams and Lecture, I would give it A-, but for the personality, I gave her a C for many reasons. But one of them is, she has favoritism and it's very obvious. When you're not one of the favorites, she seems "stiff".

One of the best teachers i have taken at State. The class project was hard, but i learned so much from doing her project. She was available to help outside of class and was a VERY organized teacher. The tests were fairly hard, but easy because i kept up with the class. She also does reviews before the test, and this really helps. I think this was the MOST beneficial class I have taken at state so far.

I thought was Professor Yang was pretty energetic for a teacher who taught my class for 4 hours a day for two days a week. At times, I wonder how they do it cause I had to struggle at times to stay awake. Her constant asking for input was enduring. If I wasn't so darn timid, I would have spoken up in her class.
That aside, her lectures are mostly drawn from the book, so there isn't much new material covered in the lecture that doesn't appear in the text. Her exams are like her lectures. The only thing I had to gripe about was that she's pretty tricky with the wording of her multiple choice exams, so you'll have to read carefully. You also have to know the author's opinion in some cases to get the question right, so its not just learning the theory. Oh, she also draws a good amount of her questions from the charts, so definitely take a look at that.
But all in all, IBUS 681 is best taken during the summer. Make it quick cause there doesn't seem to be that many new things. While taking it in the summer was a bit hectic (5 weeks), I cannot image doing it over 18 weeks during the regular semester. That would be painful.

Exams: There were a total of 3 exams. The exams weren't that hard if you review the chapters and her lecture notes.
Homework: Each of the homework she assigned were worth up to 5%. For example, if you scored 85% on the 1st exam, you will end up with an A- if you got a perfect score on the homework. Lectures: The lectures were boring because she was teaching the subject pretty much word for word based on the textbook. I managed to stay awake in the class because the guy sitting next to me had a notebook which he used to surf the internet while the Prof. was lecturing. Personality: She really needs to loosen up because she seem so stiff when she was lecturing.

She's alright. I don't think its her fault that the class is so boring... it's just the subject. She's always ontime, she returns the exams right away, and very organized.
Class: -Attendance Required (late student do not get credit) -1 group presentation -1 group research paper (about 10 pgs.) -3 exams
I didn't go to class much, but I still passed. All the test questions are from the text, so just study the book, and you'll be fine.

I would recommend this class. It was interesting enough and easy. The lectures were a bit slow moving but you can make things more interesting for yourself if you ask questions and participate in discussions.
Dr. Yang is interesting to talk to outside of class--to hear more about her business experience and research background. This is a nice class to take to balance out a semester with a difficult class lineup.

I took this class during summer 2002. It was a 5 week-class. I think this class is pretty easy. The text is not so boring, and you can make it through the class. The class has 3 homework (MC) assignments, 3 term exams & 1 group presentation. She wants the students to do a formal presentation (dress-up & powerpoint slides) and the whole class is grading your presentations (grading sheet for audience students). Just beware. In general, I think it's a pretty easy class for this level. Just read your chapters and it is not that long like 6-8 pages per chapter. You don't even need to take good notes. You can just print out the 6 slides per page otherwise you will waste papers. Everything is based on the texbook. Don't worry.

She is not that bad. Her lectures are kind of boring, you do not have to go to class because she summarizes the chapters you read on to powerpoint slides, and her tests are fair as long as you do some serious studying, but she also does a review before the test, which is often not helpful because it is just basically the entire chapter. Her accent makes her kind of hard to understand, but she does her best to answer questions to the best of her knowledge. She is defintely disorganized. I would recommend this class if you need IBUS 330 and do not want to go to class often. Dropping in occassionally would be best to make sure the test are on the scheduled time, but that is it.

Where do I begin? Nini Yang is not a new professor, but by the way she organizes herself, you'd bet she used to teach 1st graders not college students. She is very scatterbrained and her lectures seem to go on and on without any point in sight. She will use 4-5 loooong examples and by then you will have forgotten what she was explaining. She doesn't really seem to welcome students questions. And don't try to follow her writings/drawings on the board, they will almost always end up as some kind of squiggly line. As for her tests, they are all objective, but very picky multiple choice questions. The T/F questions aren't very good either. I came across a couple questions that were really a matter of opinion. She requires you to do a group presentation. This isn't so bad except for the fact that some groups had to present before our topic was even lectured on. So we had to teach it to ourselves as well as teach it to the class. I stopped attending class in September and as long as I have read the book before the test, have gotten B's. She really does seem to be a nice person, but unfortunately her teaching is just absolutely awful.
