Zahar is one of the best instructors I ever had... I took him just this summer for BUS 682 and I had the best times ever... Although it may sound too much to come in twice a week for a three-hour session (@ least) but it was all worth it... He doesn't have any pretensions, say if he does not know a specific law, then he would openly admit it to the class... He is very smart, and very funny...
My advice, take his class...

This teacher was definitely one of the better teachers I've encountered. It's true, you never get bored in that class! Since he's a prosecutor by day, he always manages to get the class into a promising discussion that will somehow relate to the tests or just be an interesting conversational piece. He's very easy going and listens to his students, you honestly cannot do bad in this class, as long as you do the work, readings, and project...it's a piece of cake!

I took Zahar his first semester teaching, and i thought he was a great teacher. All the students enjoyed the relzed class environment, and we all enjoyed the group work we did. The class was interesting, and he taught it well. He is the perfect teacher to take for this class. He gave us good materials to study from for the exams.. and he was fair at grading.

Nice guy! Excellent instructor with a great sense of humor! I had my first academic encounter with Zahar when he was a part-time instructor at Heald Business College. He was an excellent teacher then, and he still is now.
His classes are the one to take if you need them. Heald College's loss is SFSU's gain.

For all you Business majors out there that need to take BUS682 as part of the core, I highly suggest taking professor Zahar. When I took him, his class met once a week, Thursday nights from 6 to 9:30, I believe it was. I know that sounds like a pain in the ass, but it's well worth the effort. We studied ethics and business law and for the final project, we had to give a two minute presentation of a Supreme Court case of our own choosing. Now that sounds pretty hard, but it wasn't. You basically just had to research a case, present it to the class, and say how how the case's verdict affected Business in general.
Professor Zahar is without a doubt one of the best instructors I've ever had at SFSU. He speaks well, he's always glad to answer questions, he knows the material inside and out... I could go on and on, but I won't. Just trust me, when you have to take BUS682, take Zahar.

If you need to take Bus 682, take John Zahar's class! He was an awesome teacher! I really enjoyed his class mainly because of his personality and the way he taught. He's a very laid back kinda guy and uses really good simple situations in order to understand the topic. For example, when he covered the contracts, he used example situations of who gets the ring if the guy breaks off the engagement. It sounds silly and too simple, but believe me, he gets really really detailed. He makes you think about more than just the obvious and the moral.
The class was structured very consistently and the only time that the class was different was during the midterm and the final. For the midterm, you had to write a paper about what you thought about a case in the text. We had to write about advertising tobacco and alcohol. For our project, we had to find a supreme court case and write a short paper about the details of the case. Then for the final, he gave us a review and you had to answer 10 essay questions. Don't be afraid of this. It's shorter than it sounds and you will pass this as long as you pay extreme attention during the presentations.
On regular days, the class did current events in the first hour and in the second hour, he gave a lecture. The lectures were always interesting no matter how dull the topic. He makes everything sound intriguing.
I think the class really appreciated the way he involved everyone in the discussions and that you could say whatever you felt. I wish more teachers were like him! It's really difficult to add into his class but show up early the first day!

Man, Zahar is the funniest teacher i've ever had. This dude had the whole class rolling every thursday night. If all the teachers were like this guy, taking attendace wouldn't even be necessary. The best part is that he understands that most students have hectic schedules, so he takes it easy on his students. He's also a full time lawyer, as a result, he likes to discuss very interesting topics such as ethics in the work place. Take this guy, you wont regret it!!!!

Zahar is AWESOME! I told everyone I knew to take him. he is very relaxed, understands that we have other classes to handle. His tests are straight from the lecture, so if you are there every week, there is NO WAY possible to get less than a B+. Please take this class, you will grow from it.
